Foreshore Precinct - Shed
The shed which was used as an integral part of the loading of vessels was built in the 1880s and houses the original mast used for semaphore signalling the waiting vessels. Imagine if you will, the feat of climbing the rope ladder (in all kinds of weather) to the crows nest to establish contact with vessels having travelled from the other side of the world to load cargo in this port.
The shed and foreshore have been used over the years in the making of such films as Robbery Under Arms 1957 and the television series A Thousand Skies in 1985.
